Experience the Magic of Spain: Why Don Quixote is the Must-See San Antonio Event This May
San Antonio is a city defined by vibrant color and deep-rooted Spanish heritage. From our historic missions to the star power of icons like Eva Longoria, our community is a living reflection of traditions tracing back centuries to Spain.
This May, as the final medals of Fiesta San Antonio are pinned and families search for the perfect Mother’s Day gift in San Antonio, the Children’s Ballet of San Antonio (CBSA) brings the ultimate cultural celebration to the stage: the classical masterpiece, Don Quixote.
A "Fiesta de Plaza" on the Historic Majestic Stage
For the first time, CBSA brings this high-energy production to the Historic Majestic Theatre in the heart of downtown San Antonio. Built in 1929, the Majestic’s Spanish Colonial Revival architecture provides the perfect "atmospheric" backdrop for a story set in the heart of Spain.
From Barcelona to Houston Street: Follow the fiery romance of Kitri and Basilio as they navigate a bustling Spanish plaza. The production features dynamic group choreography and virtuosic soloist variations, culminating in a joyous, grand plaza wedding that celebrates love and community.
Post-Fiesta Energy: Just as the street parades end, CBSA keeps the joy alive. Think of this production as a "Fiesta de Plaza"—a stage filled with the same music, passion, and spirit that makes San Antonio legendary.
Rodeo Passion meets Ballet Precision: Experience the bravery of the bullring and the grace of the stage. This performance connects the passion of the Spanish spirit with the very roots of our city’s traditions.
See the Stars of Tomorrow: Award-Winning Artistry
The Children’s Ballet of San Antonio is not your typical youth dance organization. Under the visionary leadership of Artistic Director Vanessa Bessler—an eleven-time YAGP and UBC Outstanding Teacher—these young artists are some of the highest-awarded dancers in the region.
Our 2025–2026 season has been nothing short of historic. From Texas to Tennessee, and even across the Atlantic to Italy, the Children's Ballet of San Antonio has dominated the world’s most prestigious competitive stages including YAGP, ADC|IBC, UBC, and Celebrity.
When you buy a ticket to Don Quixote, you aren't just attending a "recital"—you are witnessing elite, professional-level artistry from rising stars currently being recruited by the greatest ballet companies on the globe.
