Trainee Program

A post-secondary full day vocational program providing critical training and performance opportunities for dancers transitioning to a professional career.

Dancers accepted into CBSA’s II Trainee Program will focus on perfecting their technique while discovering what it takes to transition into a professional dance career. CBSA Artistic Staff instructs the Trainee Program classes in classical ballet technique, pointe, contemporary, variations, partnering, modern, pilates, men's balletics, pas de deux, conditioning, progressive ballet, repertoire, modern, and musical theatre depending on area of chosen career path. Trainees will learn to perform both repertoire by the Artistic Director and choreography created by the artistic staff.

CBSA II Professional Division offers preparation for a company environment by nurturing a dancers’ development in technique and artistry. This is accomplished through intensive training and rehearsals with international ballet masters and coaches.

Students will have the opportunity to understudy principal dancer roles and will perform in professional performances with high caliber professionals and trainees.

Due to the highly selective nature of this program, only 30 trainees will be accepted. Auditions must be submitted by August 1, 2025. Season begins August 18, 2025, season ends May 15, 2026 for the 2025-2026 season.
