Training requirements: CBSA is not a training organization. We are a performance organization looking for artists who demonstrate proficiency in their desired discipline. Artists offered a role are required to be actively training in their discipline during the production season at a facility of their choice. Please be advised that we will ask for training information if we did not already receive it during auditions.

Rehearsals: Regular rehearsals will be held every Saturday between 12:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., starting with limited rehearsals on September 9. Regular rehearsals will begin Saturday, January 27, 2024 @ DCSA studios. Vocalists will rehearse on Friday evenings. Lead roles may rehearse during the week at our studio sponsor, DCSA.

Rehearsal schedules are released on a weekly basis at the beginning of each week.

Attendance: Rehearsal attendance is mandatory; absences are handled on a case-by-case basis. More than 1 absence needs to be evaluated at the discretion of the Director. Most of those younger than 7 years old, will start rehearsals after choreography has been set for the older dancers they may share the stage with. We have several breaks built into the rehearsal schedule (Spring break, Easter break). It takes a strong commitment to the rehearsal process in order to produce the high-quality shows CBSA is known for. Dr notes or excuses are accepted for illness. If your artist is ill, please do not send them. If you have concerns or questions, please email the Program Manager.

Fees: Audition fee is $25, non-refundable, and must be paid before audition. One group role is guaranteed for casting. Upon accepting casting results from CBSA's audition, the performance fee will be $200 + $25 costume fee for the 1st group role. If offered an additional role(s) beyond the first group role, accepting the additional role(s) will require a $25 additional performance fee for each additional role. (Performance fees cover a part of administrative and costume costs associated with additional roles. Performance fees do not cover required costume undergarments, dance shoes, tights.) Audition fee is not refundable to applicants who chose not to participate in the production. Audition fee & performance fee is waived for special needs artists. Ages 3-8 will be cast in one role for one show. We have been doing this for several years and find that this works best for this age group.

Special Needs: The goal is for CBSA to work closely with Special Needs artists and their families to allow for full participation in professional-level CBSA productions. Special Needs artists may need on-site supervision during rehearsals based on individual needs. During tech week, dress rehearsals, and shows, Special Needs artists will need a parent-approved personal chaperone on-site at all times.

Why should your artist join CBSA? CBSA productions feature a cast entirely made up of children ages 3 to 19! Therefore we are able to offer each dancer unparalleled opportunities to perform and to train as they work with Master Ballet Teachers, Choreographers, and Coaches in rehearsal. Each artist receives individual attention from our rehearsal directors and has the opportunity to dance in highlighted and lead roles!
